World Wetlands Day - Hotel La Laguna

World Wetlands Day

As every year, the 2nd of February World Wetlands Day is celebrated around the World , this day was created to raise awareness about the value of wetlands for humanity and the planet. In addition, the same day also commemorates the adoption of the Ramsar Convention in Iran in 1971.

In this year 2017, the World Wetlands Day has as motto: “Wetlands for disaster risk reduction”. Wetlands play an important role in reducing the impact of extreme weather events such as floods, droughts and cyclones.

So, taking into account the events of the last storms suffered in this area, the Natural Park of La Mata-Torrevieja wants to carry out an activity in which participants can understand in a very practical and visual way the importance of having a wetland in the territory. In addition to check, at first hand, the effects that these rains and snow have caused on this protected space.

The activity will take place next Sunday, February 5 and will consist of a brief explanatory talk followed by an interpretive route through the Natural Park, where the participants will be able to enjoy landscapes that are completely different from the ones we are usually accustomed to seeing in this Park. Since the landscape, in our Park, changes according to the amount of water it has. And right now we have very high water reserves that give it a totally different look.

Come and visit this Natural Park that changes with rain and snow.

Discover the importance of having in our territory area a wetland.

Have fun with your family in a unique and unrepeatable environment where everything you see its determined by the water.

We are waiting for you!!
