How to have our energy to the full

How many times have we heard of the importance of caring for and pampering ourselves, it seems we all have it clear, but … Is it really so?

The pace of life today is frantic, we go from here to now, we lack time and especially energy to be able to reach everything. Work, family, friends, housework … What can you do to have enough energy to get everything?

Start by taking your health as a priority. Ther`s no place for excuses!

What can you do to take care of yourself?

Let’s talk about the 4 fundamental points for good health.

1. NUTRITION

When talking about a healthy diet it is necessary to take into account that we are referring to  a  balanced, integrated by nutrients, vitamins, proteins and lipids one; In which fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, proteins, etc. are consumed, in a moderate and balanced way, so that the intake satisfies our needs, that is, that we have everything necessary for our correct physical and mental development, avoid diseases and allow us to perform physical activity.

Talking about lifestyle, and taking into account the approaching dates, Christmas excesses will be there, but … do not panic!  Once a year does not hurt.

2. EXERCISE

Physical exercise improves our mental functions, memory, speed, physical image and sense of well-being, there is stability in the personality characterized by optimism, euphoria.

It is important to keep in mind that by physical activity is understood both to do exercise (in the gym, running, team sports …), and other activities of our day to day that involve moving our body. In short, it is not essential to join the gym to get in shape, the important thing is to move.

Experts recommend to make at least 150 minutes a week (2.5 hours) if you do not have a lot of time, you can start doing it in blocks of 10 minutes.

3. REST

How many hours do you sleep a day?

Yes, I know the answer. Less than eight, right?

Rest is another of the points that we all know but few fulfill. Resting well is much more important than we think, as it is during periods of sleep where the body repairs the muscular wasting that has been effected during the day, just as it helps us release stress to have a better physical and mental performance.

The dream has many stages, just with the loose of consciousness the body begins “physical repairs”, but mental rest only begins with deep sleep, and that is why to be able to rest well sleep must be at least 8 hours daily.

It is advisable to sleep always at the same time respecting the hours of sleep, since sleep is not cumulative as is commonly thought.

 

4. EMOTIONAL HEALTH

People who are emotionally healthy have control over their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They feel good about themselves and have good interpersonal relationships. They can put the problems into perspective.

It is important to remember that people who have good emotional health also have problems, ups and downs in the road, the terrain can be abrupt for all. However, people who are emotionally healthy have developed ways to cope with stress and complicated situations.

Just like if you get a bone fracture you visit your traumatologist, with a cavity we go to the dentist. They know when they need to seek help from their doctor or a psychological counselor.

 

Sometimes you have to stop, take a breath, indulge yourself. A day of Spa with body treatments, rest and relax in our Hotel La Laguna Spa & Golf, a little meditation and a good book. It’s a great way to take care of our emotional health.

The four themes we have discussed are closely related and affect one another. Caring for each of them will achieve maximum health, well-being and energy.

For this reason, I suggest that you focus on following a healthy diet, having an active life, sleeping the hours you need and taking care of your emotional health.

As a first step, you can perform an awareness exercise about your health and your lifestyle. Take your time to do it. Grab paper and pen. Ask yourself about each of the above mentioned sections. First, what are you doing well and then what you would have to improve.

Take it as the first purpose for the new year 2017!
